Can Mellissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson pull off “Marsha and Harriet”, or will this casting choice leave comedy fans wanting?

Rebooting is risky business. Hollywood banks on tapping nostalgia to draw in audiences, but as cultures evolve, tried and true formulas of decades past feel stale (and even offensive) to modern eyes.

The new Home Alone has made some pretty daring casting choices, and audiences are wondering: can the movie’s intruder antagonists Harriet (McCarthy) and Marsha (Wilson) fill the “Wet Bandit” shoes of their slapstick predecessors?

The jury is still out, but Joe Pesci has big shoes to fill indeed.
